September 8th, 2011

After 4 days at McMaster, Cara was transferred to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital Sunday evening. She is receiving excellent care here and is doing well. Her blood sugar levels have been a challenge, which the doctors want to get under control before surgery. She is no longer on sedatives so we get to see more of her spunky character, and we even get to hold her once in a while! Surgery is scheduled for Friday providing her sugar levels are more stable.

Some of you may know that Julianne had gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Since Cara's birth, her sugar levels have not gone back to normal as expected. She will need to go for testing in the near future to determine if she has Type 1 diabetes.

God has given us incredible strength in these last few days. There have been ups and downs, but your prayers have been what carries us through because God's love for us and Cara is felt. Thank you for your prayers and we will continue to need them especially during these next few weeks.

Prayer Requests:

  • That Cara's blood sugar levels would stabilize completely
  • That Surgery would go ahead as scheduled for Friday
  • That Cara would remain stable and calm
  • That Julianne's blood sugars would also go back to normal
  • Continued strength each day

 11 Teach me your way, LORD,
   that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
   that I may fear your name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
   I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your love toward me;

Psalm 86:11-13a

  3. What a beautiful and precious gift you have received from the LORD! We will keep you all in our prayers as you watch over little Cara - may God bless the doctors and nurses as they care for both mother and daughter and may you experience the LORD's nearness from day to day.
